In the Night

Love is not something that happens by chance. It requires courage, and once realized, it must be nurtured and protected. This is the kind of love the narrator speaks of in the story titled
In the Night.

Its protagonists—Arsen and Sofia—demonstrate that love can be a strengthening force that overcomes fears and insecurities. The love between them is not sudden or accidental but develops through patience, dedication, and trust. Its perfect form is reached precisely through all its imperfections. Within the story, we also encounter the theme of jealousy, tinted with destructive emotions.

Kobac, who watches Arsen and Sofia’s love with envy, reveals how harmful hatred and jealousy can be, stemming from misery and inner emptiness.

His desire to destroy the beauty of their love out of his own frustrations represents negative energy, standing in stark contrast to the purity and power of love. The love between Arsen and Sofia is not merely romantic; it carries a deeper philosophical meaning—it is a force that makes the world better and more beautiful.

Their unity is strengthened by faith and trust, their actions becoming symbols of hope and light, manifested through the glow of the crescent moon. This is the light that illuminates their path, even when they face the darkest moments.
